Crown Lengthening

Crown Lengthening is a surgical procedure performed by a dentist to expose more of a tooth’s structure for the purpose of restoring the damaged tooth. Crown Lengthening is done by cutting away some of the gum tissue surrounding a damaged tooth. Afterward the gum tissue is cut away, removing a given height of the bone from the circumference of the tooth or teeth being repaired. Many general dentists can perform this procedure but they frequently refer these complex cases to a periodontist.
